After a very successful boating weekend in the fall of 2007, we decided to go for a whole week this time. A route combining the natural beauty of the Wieden and the Weerribben with the characteristic (former) Zuiderzee harbor towns seemed perfect to us. And it was! We hiked and biked through beautiful areas, but above all, of course, we went boating.
The boat was perfect for hosting several adults, and we certainly had our share of visitors on board. It required some logistical planning, but thanks to a pre-planned (basic) route, it was perfectly manageable and a lot of fun. People get excited—and rightly so—when you tell them about a boating vacation in Friesland! The boating itself—that is, especially the docking and undocking—went a bit more smoothly than the year before. Euf, thanks again for the informative skipper training!
We hope to go sailing again next year, because “living on the water” for a while remains a special and very enjoyable vacation experience. We’ll have a little passenger on board then, though, because on our second-to-last day on the boat, we found out that we’re expecting a new addition to the family!
