A nice trip

We’ve had a few years of boating experience, but this was our first time on the Wetterwille, and we really enjoyed it! The Antares is a comfortable and easy-to-handle boat. It’s too big for just two people, but it was no trouble at all to recruit two crew members from among our children. Thanks to the convertible top, sailing was fun even during a rain shower.

Since we had to pick up our daughter-in-law in Leeuwarden, Grou was our first stop. The next day, we traveled via the Princess Margriet Canal to Leeuwarden, where there’s a good place to moor in the Prinsentuin. After shopping, visiting family, and picking up our guest at the NS train station, we enjoyed a delicious meal at Humphrey’s (Nieuwe Stad 91).

The next day, we chose Joure as our final destination, where we found plenty of mooring spots. We did a little more shopping and, of course, stopped by Douwe Egberts. We can also recommend the Italian restaurant near the little harbor. On Thursday, since it was late-night shopping in Sneek, we decided to end our trip there and chose to sail via Sloten, Woudsend, Heeg, and IJlst.
It was a lovely trip. Before we knew it, the midweek vacation was over, but we look back on it with great pleasure.
