Eleven Cities Route in Friesland - 190 km - 1 week or longer

Suitable for motor yachts with a clearance height of up to 2.50 m. Not suitable for beginners.

Until recently, it was not possible to travel the northern section of this route. This section has now been made navigable for recreational craft and boats with a maximum draft of 1.30 meters and a maximum height of 2.50 meters. On skates, the northern part of the route is known as “the hell of the north,” but in good weather it’s “heaven on earth,” as you’ll enjoy views stretching for kilometers across the endless fields and meadows and experience this route beneath an ever-changing canopy of clouds. The charming (mound) villages invite you to step off the boat regularly and explore the area around the Elfsteden Route. Don’t forget to bring your bike and hiking shoes, as the area offers a variety of biking and hiking trails.

A fun detail is that, just like the skaters, you can also collect a stamp in all eleven cities while sailing. The stamp card is available for a small fee at the tourist office. You can collect the stamps at the tourist office and/or nearby restaurants. Once your card is full, you can pick up the Oarkonde certificate at the tourist office in Leeuwarden.
